10/30/20 - Maria Galbraith, undergraduate research assistant, was awarded the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) Undergraduate Scholarship Award! In addition, at the ASEM Annual Meeting, Hari Vasudevanallur Subramanian, graduate research assistant, presented “Communicating Uncertain Information from Deep Learning Models in Human Machine Teams” and Javier Valentín-Sívico, PhD student, presented “The impact of broadband internet on the well-being of rural towns: a benefit-cost analysis”.

8/17/20 - The National Science Foundation has awarded a Future of Work Human Technology Frontier (HW-HTF) Planning Grant titled “Teaming Transplant Professionals and Artificial Intelligence Tools to Reduce Kidney Discard” led by Casey Canfield. Collaborators include Cihan Dagli (Missouri S&T EMSE), Daniel Shank (Missouri S&T Psych), Krista Lentine (Saint Louis University), Mark Schnitzler (SLU), and Henry Randall (SLU). See Press Release.

8/1/20 - The Sloan Foundation has selected a proposal titled “Substitutes vs. Complements: Effect of Renewable Procurement Options on Installation Decisions” led by Casey Canfield. This collaboration includes Mahelet Fikru (Missouri S&T Economics) and Jenny Heeter (National Renewable Energy Lab). Data partners are Silicon Valley Clean Energy and Cape Light Compact.

6/1/20 - Casey Canfield helped organize the Bringing Broadband to a Missouri Community Workshop. She facilitated the Community Adoption session.

5/25/20 - Casey Canfield published preliminary work titled “Integrated Agent-Based Model for Broadband Resource Allocation Analysis” in the IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference Proceedings with Jennifer Legaspi, Kuldeep Gill, Shams Bhada, and Alex Wyglinski.

4/1/20 - The Solar Foundation selected the team led by Casey Canfield to lead a SolSmart Program Evaluation. This is a collaboration with Florida State University (Tian Tang, Morgan Higman, Hunter Hill), University of Texas at Austin (Varun Rai, John Cornwell), and University of Miami (Xue Gao).

11/19/19 - Simran Bhatia, a MS Psychology student in the Canfield Lab, presented a poster at the Intelligent Systems Center poster session titled “Improving Situational Awareness with Vigilance Training” (collaboration with Rui Bo and Susan Murray). The Smart Living research area provided seed funding for this project.
