The Canfield Lab designs, tests, and models human-centered approaches for big data, artificial intelligence, automation, and other black box systems. We aim to improve individual and organizational decision making for complex systems such as energy, infrastructure, and healthcare.
I am currently recruiting PhD students for funded research assistantships. Please contact me if you are interested in using social science methods to solve complex technical problems, such as:
Designing human-machine team interfaces to improve human perception and decision-making (for power grid control rooms and healthcare data)
Evaluating system-level interventions to increase data-driven decision-making in state and local government (for renewable energy adoption and rural broadband investment)
Send me an email at canfieldci at mst dot edu with your CV and a description of the type of research you are interested in pursuing.
